Mayor's Door (Demo)
The door demands lives.
Every morning, you choose who goes.
Free demo — play until the night you first challenge the second door (or the night of Day 10).
Mayor's Door is a dark, retro "non-field" RPG about a small village shut away in a valley.
Fifty villagers. Too little food. And a door deep in the cave that no one has ever opened.
As the Mayor, you decide each day who will face the door, who will gather food, and who will rest.
There is no field to explore. Only the village, the cave, the door... and the choices you make every morning.
What you'll do
- Choose 1 to 3 villagers each morning and send them to fight the door, forage for food, or rest.
- Weaken the door with curses that carry over to the next day, and wear it down little by little.
- Keep the village fed. When the food runs out, hunger creeps in.
- When a villager falls, their will lives on and strengthens those left behind.
Every villager has a name
- Name the villagers after your own family and friends. Their jobs change every game.
- Some villagers share bonds: siblings, spouses, lovers, rivals... When one falls, the other may stand at the grave and refuse to leave.
- Small events happen in the village at night, and some of them ask you, as Mayor, to make a hard choice.
Every grave in the village has a name.
How many will you send?
About this demo
This free demo lets you play until the first night after you challenge the second door (or until the night of Day 10).
Your save carries over to the full version.
The full version has four endings, and the village's secret is revealed little by little over several playthroughs.
The game is still in development, and I'd love to hear what you think. For example:
- Was the Devil's Door (the first door) too easy, or too hard?
- Did the demo feel too short, or about right?
- Was anything confusing? Is there anything you wanted more of?
Even a single line would make me very happy!
